Single Ancestor Genealogy Research — Documented U.S. Family History

Price range: $29.00 through $99.00

Research one identified deceased U.S. ancestor and understand what the surviving evidence actually supports.
I will conduct focused historical research within the selected package, compare relevant records, document important sources, identify contradictions and uncertainty, and provide a written findings report with recommended next steps.
A particular relationship, record, or conclusion cannot be guaranteed.

Description

Research One Ancestor. Understand the Evidence.

Family history often begins with one person and one unanswered question.

I will conduct focused genealogy research on one identified deceased U.S. ancestor using available historical records and reliable research sources.

Your research objective might be to:

  • establish when or where an ancestor was born, married, lived, or died
  • investigate parents, spouses, or other relationships
  • learn more about an ancestor’s occupation, residences, migration, or life
  • verify information already appearing in a family tree
  • determine whether records belong to your ancestor or someone with a similar name
  • locate additional documentation
  • investigate conflicting dates, names, locations, or relationships
  • determine what can actually be supported by available evidence

Depending on the ancestor, location, time period, and package selected, research may involve census records, vital records, marriage records, obituaries, newspapers, city directories, cemetery records, immigration and naturalization records, military records, probate material, land records, church records, historical databases, archives, and other relevant sources.

You will receive more than a collection of search results. I will organize and compare the available evidence, identify contradictions where they occur, and distinguish documented facts from reasonable inference and information that remains unproven.

What You Will Receive

Your completed research report will normally include:

Research Objective

A clear statement of the question being investigated.

Starting Information

The information supplied at the beginning of the project and identification of information that has not yet been independently verified.

Research Conducted

The major record groups, databases, repositories, newspapers, catalogs, and other sources consulted.

Findings

An organized account of relevant discoveries.

Evidence Analysis

Explanation of how records relate to the ancestor, where evidence agrees, and where important conflicts or uncertainties remain.

Conclusion

What can reasonably be established from the research completed.

Unresolved Questions

Important issues that could not be resolved within the available evidence or purchased research scope.

Recommended Next Steps

Specific records, repositories, relatives, locations, or additional research most likely to move the investigation forward.

Sources

Source information sufficient to identify and relocate significant evidence.

Supporting Records

Copies, excerpts, screenshots, or links when legally permitted, available, and useful.

What I Need From You

Please provide as much of the following as you know:

  1. Your ancestor’s full known name, including maiden or alternate names.
  2. Approximate birth and death years.
  3. Known cities, counties, states, or other locations.
  4. Known spouse, parents, children, siblings, or other relatives.
  5. The single main question you want researched.
  6. What you already know or believe about the answer.
  7. Copies, screenshots, links, family-tree entries, photographs, or records you already possess.
  8. Any conflicting names, dates, locations, or relationships you have encountered.
  9. Sources you have already searched unsuccessfully, if known.
  10. Whether the research relates to a legal, citizenship, inheritance, tribal-enrollment, adoption, or other formal proceeding.

Incomplete information does not necessarily prevent research, but more accurate starting information usually makes the research block more productive.

Important Scope Information

This product covers one ancestor and one primary research objective.

It does not include:

  • an entire family tree or family branch
  • unlimited generations
  • additional ancestors as separate research subjects
  • DNA match analysis or genetic genealogy
  • unknown biological-parent identification
  • adoption investigations
  • legal heirship conclusions
  • probate or title legal opinions
  • citizenship-by-descent application preparation
  • lineage-society certification
  • tribal-membership or enrollment determinations
  • background investigations involving living people
  • extensive international archival research
  • professional translation requiring language expertise
  • on-site courthouse, archive, cemetery, or repository visits
  • paid certified records
  • archive, repository, or third-party researcher fees
  • guaranteed discoveries

If research naturally identifies another promising relative, family branch, or question, I will normally record it as a recommended next step rather than using your purchased research time to pursue an unrelated investigation.

Genealogy Cannot Guarantee an Answer

Historical records may have been lost, destroyed, never created, restricted, incorrectly indexed, recorded inaccurately, or may contradict one another.

Your purchase covers a defined professional research effort and written analysis. It does not guarantee that a particular record, ancestor, relationship, or definitive answer will be found.

An inconclusive result can still be valuable when it identifies what was searched, eliminates unsupported possibilities, clarifies conflicting evidence, and establishes the strongest next steps.

Third-Party Costs

Paid records, archive fees, repository charges, or similar outside expenses are not included. No outside expense will be incurred without your approval.

Revisions

One clarification/revision is included with each package.

A revision covers correction, clarification, organization, or a reasonable adjustment to the delivered report based on the original research objective.

A revision does not include additional research, a new ancestor, a new research question, or expansion of the purchased research block.

What Happens After You Order

  1. I will contact you by email. I will request the ancestor’s known name variations, dates, locations, relatives, existing records, family-tree information, previous research, and the main question you want the project to address.
  2. You provide the starting evidence. Knowing what has already been found helps reduce duplicate work and allows the purchased research time to focus on unresolved questions.
  3. I research the identified ancestor. I examine relevant historical sources within the scope of the selected package and compare the evidence rather than relying on unsourced online-tree claims.
  4. You receive the findings electronically. Your report documents significant findings, sources, evidence analysis, contradictions or uncertainty, supported conclusions, and recommended next steps.

A particular record, relationship, or conclusion cannot be guaranteed.

Research Focus

My strongest genealogy experience is with United States family-history research, with particular familiarity with western Pennsylvania families, records, communities, and migration patterns.
